Bus Lines

Those who came before to Curitiba might remember that there were two other quite convenient options, the "Ligeirinho Aeroporto" and the "Aeroporto Executivo", but unfortunately these are not available anymore.

Bus line 68 "Quississana - Terminal Guadalupe" works for every hotel listed above; there is usually a 50-minute interval between buses.

Hotel Slim Curitiba Av. das Torres by Slaviero. Line E68 "Quississana - Terminal Guadalupe" leaves from a bus stop located 10 minutes away from the airport. The trip lasts around 40 minutes on Sundays.

Hotel Dan Inn, Mabu Curitiba Business: The same line E68 "Quississana - Terminal Guadalupe", leaving from a bus stop 10 minutes away from the airport, takes you to Terminal Guadalupe, which is less then 10 minutes away from the hotels. The trip lasts around one hour. We do not recommend taking this line at night, at least not on Sunday, since its last stop is in the central area of Curitiba.
There is another option which will take your nearer to the hotels
, which requires changing buses: first E32 "Terminal Boqueirão", and then (from the Boqueirão terminal) line 505, "Tubo Museu", to "Estação Tubo Círculo Militar". The trip may last 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Hotel Nacional Inn Curitiba Estação. line E68 "Quississana - Terminal Guadalupe" takes about 1 hour to get there (including 10 minutes walking to get to the bus stop and another 10-minute walk in the end to the hotel).

Restaurants

"Restaurante Universitário" UFPR Centro Politécnico

The "Restaurante Universitário" is maintained by the university, and has agreed to provide meals to the participants of the Brazilian Algebra Meeting. The price is only BRL 6,00 per person, but note that the waiting lines are famously long. More details can be found here.

Restaurants close to SEPT

There are several options for lunch (and dinner) close to the venue of the Meeting and to the Hotel Slim Curitiba. Among others, we mention

  • the restaurants at Shopping Jardim das Américas and the restaurant of the Mercado Nacional;
  • Costelão Avenida, at Avenida Francisco H. dos Santos, a simpler and cheaper option;
  • Garden Gourmet, at Avenida Francisco H. dos Santos, a interesting, smaller restaurant.
For dinner time there are also
  • Pizzaria Baggio;
  • Gianfranco massas, which also opens at lunch but might be a bit crowded;
  • several steakhouses and ``steak and pasta'' restaurants can be found along Avenida Comendador Franco (known as "Avenida das Torres"). The restaurant of the conference dinner, "Sal e Brasa", is also located here.
Restaurants in Curitiba - expanding the search
Since the weather in Curitiba is cold and rainy during a sizable part of the year, there is a huge amount of choices of places to go for eating and drinking. A few suggestions:
  • Mangiare Felice. An Italian restaurant ("cantina italiana") which can accomodate large groups and serves big portions.
  • A Pamphylia. Italian restaurant installed in an old house which has several dishes of pasta+steak. It sells a Chilean wine called "Theorema" so, in Portuguese, you could spend the night drinking wine and then claim that you were at work "proving several theorems".
  • Armazém 71 Good food, a copious wine list.
  • Yellow Dog Beer Store (R. Prof. João Doetzer, 289 - loja 01 - Jardim das Américas). This place is located near to the conference venue and is identified on the map. Several beers on tap from smaller breweries.
  • Baraquias Lebanese food with a more contemporary feel, has several stores around the city. Serves
  • Restaurante Anarco (Only at lunch time). Pasta, steak and sea food, good wine list. This restaurant is located at the Mercado Municipal, which itself deserves a visit.
  • Azuki. Japanese restaurant with "kaiten sushi".
  • The crab season is open, and some suggestions may be found here.
  • Depending on how deep your pocket is, there are more fancy options such as Restaurante Manu, of Chef Manu Buffara; Aizu, a contemporary japansese restaurant, and Restaurante Durski, an international / eastern european restaurant with one of the best wine lists in Brazil.
